Meet Aaron Tucker

Cannabis Attorney, Licensed in Colorado

Aaron Tucker attended the University of Colorado Law School with a single-minded goal; redefining the legal cannabis business landscape for the next generation of entrepreneurs, executives and investors. With that goal in mind, Aaron’s experience has been focused on developing a deep understanding of all facets of the cannabis industry from the ground up. Aaron brings a unique operations-first, data driven approach to his legal and consulting practice. Before entering law school, Aaron was a founding member of an early stage cannabis production startup. During that time, Aaron obtained his Marijuana Horticulture Certification at Oaksterdam University, where he studied cultivation, grow room design and planning, post-harvest planning, extraction, and more.

In law school, Aaron helped edit and revise the University of Colorado’s local government and cannabis law casebooks. He had the unique opportunity to work closely with the founders of an International Hemp and CBD company as they worked to develop a diverse portfolio of cannabis brands and introduce products to the UK and EU. In addition to numerous other cannabis business focused roles, he also obtained a legal clerkship at Vicente LLP, a leading cannabis law firm based in Colorado, where he handled matters from corporate and transactional matters, to psychedelics policy, to licensing and more. Due to this exceptional array of hands-on experiences in the cannabis industry, Aaron was awarded a certificate in entrepreneurial law and a first-of-its-kind certificate in cannabis entrepreneurship jointly issued by the University of Colorado Law School and Leeds School of Business.

After graduating law school in 2020, Aaron joined one of the largest multi-state cannabis operators in the country, Trulieve Cannabis Corp. Within just a few short years Aaron worked his way up from a licensing associate, to leader of that division, to a dual role as an attorney reporting to the CLO and a leader of the licensing team. Throughout his time at Trulieve, Aaron was trusted to advise senior leadership on expansion strategy while assisting and advising the legal team on corporate, tax, banking, securities, employment, and a wide variety of regulatory and compliance matters. Aaron managed numerous license applications and other projects in support of Trulieve’s nationwide expansion efforts; including securing one of only two available Georgia Class 1 Production Licenses. Aaron also served as one of the founding co-chairs of the differently-abled employee resource group.

Aaron’s passion for operations-focused data driven solutions led to the founding of Fire Business Strategies–a full service consulting firm whose mission is to make cannabis business straightforward, efficient, and profitable through a knowledge-and-data-driven suite of solutions designed to simplify the complexities of cannabusiness through planning, education, training, and implementation.

When he’s not practicing law, Aaron can almost always be found running and skiing trails with his wife and two dogs in their hometown of Evergreen, Colorado. Aaron is a dedicated ultramarathon runner, ski mountaineer, and all-around mountain athlete. His accomplishments include running through the Grand Canyon, from the south rim to the north rim and back again in a single day, backpacking over 250 miles along the Colorado trail from Buena Vista to Durango Colorado, several podium finishes, and more. He is also a talented guitarist, with a style that merges his classical training with progressive metal and math rock influences.
