Since I’m chiming in on this series, I’ll give my take in a simple statement.
North Carolina is great. I see self regulating that works for the professionals in the retail market they want to see at work. I see state Authorities doing their job for the intended purpose, which is to focus on the bad players.
Stores with trash outside stores with nasty used needles or people hanging around the front of stores obviously selling drugs or drinking. Those are very bad aspects for any town and those doors are being targeted for all the right reasons.
North Carolina could be looked at by other states to help them recognize how even fledgling support from store owners doing their part, the state authority is doing their part and the public recognizing the changes that are taken place with legislation…. The state is being fair. That holds a lot of weight.
Thanks for listening and chiming in. NC still has a ways to go with education since there are some pockets where law enforcement is conflating hemp with marijuana, but overall it is arguably the best cannabis state in the country. -Rod
NC is great is a contextual statement as there are a few rebublican legislators who blocked the compassionate care act and are preventing medical cannabis from moving forward which is a backwards move.
Thanks for your comments, Will. Although the Republican legislators in NC who voted against medical cannabis in NC are doing so on prohibitionist grounds, it is important to note that the NC medical bill is arguably the worst one in the country. Additionally, if enacted it would set up big corporate MSOs to eventually control cannabis in NC. My view is that it’s better that a bill like this fail than for it to pass and usher in an era of monopolies running cannabis in NC. This is especially the case when the state’s hemp industry is so strong. -Rod
