ROD KIGHT RECEIVES WILLIAM THORP PRO BONO SERVICE AWARD

We are pleased to share that Attorney Rod Kight has received the 2018 William Thorp Pro Bono Service Award from the North Carolina Bar Association.

The William Thorp Pro Bono Service Award is presented to North Carolina lawyers who have provided exemplary legal services free of charge to members of their community and whose voluntary contributions have resulted in better access to legal service for low income people for an extended an on-going period of time. While Rule 6.1 encourages pro bono service by all lawyers, this award contemplates service substantially in excess of of those aspirational goals.

Year over year for nearly two decades, Kight Law has continuously provided pro bono services throughout Western North Carolina. Recognized by Pisgah Legal Services and MAVL, Legal Aid of Western North Carolina, and the 28th Judicial District for pro bono service throughout his career, this is the first statewide pro bono recognition Rod has received. Rod says, “I am both fortunate and humbled by receiving this award. As with most members of the Bar, I feel a need to give back to the community. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to do so through the excellent advocates at Pisgah Legal Services and Legal Aid of NC. I am also fortunate to have been supported by an incredible staff, including my wife, Ashley.”
